We were having a bit of trouble with the site so I wiped it clean yesterday and reloaded the entire thing. I'll be checking out everything over the next few days but it is looking good so far. Please let me know if you see something's not working.
We're makin progress. The brick is all on, the wood floors are all in and the cabinets, tile and counters are all just about finished. They will tell us by the end of next when they expect for the house to be finished but we expect that it will be around christmas time.
We're all getting real excited and we all went over to the house to see how it is coming and check out things. The kids really liked the fireplace so I took a picture of most of them sitting on the hearth.
So if you havent made plans for your winter break trip, call us up and let us know when you'll be stoppin in. We'll be ready!
My dad finally got around to putting together a couple pages of the photos he and a few others took at Sky Ranch. You can check them out by going to the iweb link up top.
Hey Everybody! Brian and I flew into Detroit for my 20 year high school reunion Saturday October 28th. It was a whirlwind trip but very fun! We got into Detroit Saturday morning around 1:30 A.M.!! We slept in until almost noon (which we totally needed). We ate a late breakfast/early lunch and then started getting ready for the festivities which started at 5:30. It takes a few hours to get the mother of 7 beautiful!! My friend Amy and I got our hair and makeup done! It was fun pampering ourselves. How often do we get to do that?! We partied until 2:30 A.M. and then had to be up and at 'em by 8:00 A.M. Sunday morning to be to the airport by 10:00 (we had a 12:00 flight). Yikes! All that squished into a little more than 24 hours! We wanted to be back early Sunday so we could celebrate Mary's 14th birthday with her. Plus it's hard to find someone to watch 7 kids for much longer than one day!
As you can tell by the pictures in the iWeb section, we had an awesome time!! Everybody looked amazing! Well, almost everybody. The girls definitely aged better than the boys! A few people I didn't recognize, but most of them I did. Brian was a real trooper being the "trophy" husband that he was!
Enjoy the photos!
We woke up this morning to a steady rain. We packed up our things. loaded them onto the trailers and headed to breakfast. Then we were off to Weathering where we had to demonstrate all of different types of weathering. Wow! Lots of jumping around and melting. After that, we went on a nature hike in the drizzling rain. It was very interesting and we got a bit wet before lunch.
After the hike we ate lunch and headed to the busses in the pouring rain. We had to load all of the luggage in the rain and boy was that fun. Then it was off we went back to school.
We all had a great time pictures coming soon…
The second day of camp started at 6:45am. We got up and went to breakfast. The pancakes, sausage, cereal and fruit were all good. Then on to horseback riding where our group had a great time! After that, it was over to the organic garden where we saw a spider that helps eat insects in the garden.
After the garden we headed over to lunch. One of the guys was outside the lunch hall using Bullwhip. I tried to do it but just couldn't get it right…almost took my head off a couple times, but nothing more.
After lunch we headed over to Aquatics and learned about the life of the water molecule as it travels around the ecosystem. The kids all tried to be nymphs surviving in the ecosystem and then went over to the pond and dug around in the mud for different creatures. It was messy but very fun for the kids.
Some of the chaperones had not been horseback riding so a group of us went over and rode horses for a bit. Very fun but I was't ready for the trotting, especially when I was trying to take a few pictures.
After dinner we practiced our skit and went over and watched a video about pushing ourselves a bit harder, participating and preparing for the future. They used Toby Mac's Extreme Days as music for the video.
Then we went over to the campfire and performed out skits. They were all very funny. Then, just to settle the kids down, we gave them smores! Again…off to teh showers, packing and bed. Tomorrow we head home!
Well, Madeline's first day of camp is over and boy was it exciting. We took a two and a half hour bus ride (on the big yellow school buses) to Van, TX and SkyRanch. The bus was a bit noisy as the 50 screaming kids on our bus were very excited. Along with that, the bus driver decided we needed a little music to fill any solitary moment of silence.
Once at Sky Ranch, we got out of the buses and into a beautiful morning at the ranch. The sky was blue, the air was crisp and we got right down to…lunch? We ate and got to business. The first class we went to was Challenges where the kids had to stand on top of a blue mat and figure out how to flip it over without anyone getting off the mat. It seemed very hard for them but Chandler finally figured it out and told everyone how to get it done. In the second challenge they had to cross some flaming hot lava (the grass) using a bridge made from cardboard. They didn't finish that challenge before we had to head over to the zipline, but I know the kids were close.
Once at the Zipline, I was recruited to be one of the zipliners and test the laws of gravity. After three rides, I was ready to get out of that harness…ouch! Then we just hung out for a while until dinner. During that time Madeline and I went canoeing with Aubrey and her Dad Pete. The canoe we used was all wet because the group before us tipped over and went under! Then I almost tipped the canoe over when I tried to defend myself from another canoe who was splashing us and dug a little to hard. I streered us away from the other canoes and we had a great trip.
Then came dinner. The food was pretty good for camp food.
After dinner we played clue and went for a nature hike. Then we took showers, practiced our skit for tomorrow and hit the sack. More tomorrow…I'm beat!
