Well, it’s that time of year once again. The 2016 Christmas Movie is done and ready for viewing.
Every year, development of the story line, preparation for filming, and editing work, seems to get a bit more challenging. This year we had to coordinate timing of when four of our children (and our son in law) would be coming home, and how that would fit with the movie production…oh, and Christmas!
While we always love the finished product, I wonder at what point life will somehow break into our family tradition. It’s a sad thought as the time we spend with each other, acting silly and laughing at ourselves, while spreading some holiday cheer, is one of the most special times of the Christmas season for me. Way better than presents! Not quite as special as the birth of our savior, but close. 😉
The idea for this caper came to us when a group of my classmates at UT presented a movie in a class on diversity that caught my eye. I showed it to the family and everyone was astonished at how things had changed in American families over the past 50-60 years. We decided we needed to juxtapose then and now for our Christmas movie and the idea was born.
From there we now have our 2016 Christmas Movie. Not a caper this year as we’ve had enough stolen from us this year already. As you will see, it was a lot of fun to make (keep watching for the bloopers to see how fun). We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. And if you are curious about the original video, you can watch that here.
It’s been a while since we posted on our site (a year to be exact) but that means it must be time to gather up the family for another installment of the ever ridiculous Christmas Caper series.
This year the Doerr’s have some big changes as Mary was recently married. But that doesn’t damper the hilarity, in fact it makes it even bigger as her new Husband joins in on the fun and helps to save the day as the Very Scary Monster tried once again to steal the children and Christmas from the family.
Join the kids on the annual adventure and here’s hoping your 2016 is another great adventure!
The 2015 Christmas Caper – Bah Humbug/A New Hope
It’s another adventure! Join Auntie Annabella, Benji, and their friend Kelly as they travel to Uncle Rubato’s Marvelous Musical Mansion.
As you can imagine, the trip is full of fun and excitement…and as always a bit of mystery!
Watch the video here and let us know if you enjoy it.
Okay…it’s finally time! The latest 2013 Christmas Caper is done!
The Doerrstop clan heads west to the Rose Bowl, but forgets one important thing…Will they remember in time? Watch now on our YouTube channel.
You can also check out all our Christmas Capers on our handy dandy Christmas Caper playlist. No need to search the interwebs or trudge through mounds snow and freezing cold winter weather to your favorite video store. Just cozy up with your favorite warm beverage and your kids on your lap (or anyones kids for that matter) and enjoy almost 2 hours of our zany family antics!
And after you’ve finished watching, feel free to leave us a comment.
Hope you enjoy and have a “rose-y” 2014!
We are finished with the latest Doerrstop adventure but are working through a few music licensing issues we uncovered when we uploaded it to our favorite video site, Youtube. Seems the music companies don’t want to let anyone watch it on a mobile device.
As soon as we have this little issue worked out (or alternatives in place), we’ll be pushing our latest creation out to world.
The 2012 Christmas movie is finally here!
Yes, I know its the middle January but this project was a bit bigger and more involved than pretty much any movie we’ve done before. It’s also 8 minutes longer than any of our other movies. We hope it’s worth the wait. You can watch it on our YouTube channel here and be sure to “Like it”
Feel free to let us know on our website, facebook, or my new favorite, Google+.
Have a wonderful 2013 and hope to see you soon!
For those of you asking about our 2012 Christmas movie, It’s just about finished!
With school, work and travel schedules this year, along with a longer script that includes more Cheryl and Brian than ever, shooting took a bit longer than anticipated. I think we are going to have to hire a couple remote location crews next year. 😉
Editing is just about finished and we plan to release it this weekend right here.
Check this post out on Google+ or FB for a sneak peak at the theme for this year.
