2008 Christmas Caper

The 2008 Christmas Caper is here!  We were wondering if there would be a caper this year until Santa called us just before Christmas.  Needless to say the Doerrstop kids were on the case.

Check it out…

The bloopers reel is in the works and will be posted as soon as we can stop laughing!

Humongous Halloween Haul

{rokzoom}images/stories/halloween%20haul.jpg{/rokzoom}OMG…32.2 Pounds!  It was the biggest and most amazing haul for the kids this year, and not because they stayed out forever but because they stumbled into a plan that raked in the candy, even without Mary who was handing out candy due to her surgery the day before.

Mitchell wanted to go to the Wakeland football game (yes, they scheduled a football game on Halloween) as the middle school team was asked if they wanted to run through the tunnel with the football team.  That meant he might miss trick-or-treating.

He left early and got back from the game at 8pm and asked if he could go out for a bit.  We had been out for 45 minutes already with the little kids so I told him he could go out for a little while and Mason and Mark could go with him.

They were gone for about  a hour.  When they came back they had a ton of candy.  It seemed that everyone, including us, had over bought thinking there were going to be more kids this year.  So at every house they went to (they only went up and down three blocks) people were handing them handfuls of candy or just dumping the rest of the bowl into their bags in an effort to get rid of it.  Thanks!

Now we have an enormous amount of candy.  We let the kids each pick 25 pieces for their private stash and the rest goes into the family shared bag.  We may head to the dentist and sell it to her.  She will pay $.50 a pound and then send it to the troops.

The Great Doerrdini

doerrdini.jpgMy Dad and Dixie are in town this week and while the kids were in school today, I asked him if he could do his version of the now famous, "Great Kuehndini Magic Trick".

He obliged and did a fantastic job.

Check it out here.

My Dad’s Choir Takes 2nd Place

dadchoir.jpg

My Dad just emailed me to tell me that his choir, the Langford Men’s Choir, took 2nd prize in an international competition in North Wales last weekend. Waahoo! You can check them out here. They had some nice close-ups of him too. He’s in the second row all the way on the left (looking at them). I’m sure he’ll have more information over at doerrway.com.

Congrats Dad!

New Position with Community Hospital Corporation

chc.png

I thought I would take a moment and let everyone know that I recently accepted a new position with Community Hospital Corporation, a hospital management and consulting company with a focus on supporting not-for-profit hospitals. I’ll be working in their corporate headquarters in Plano TX as Vice President, Information Technology. I’ll report to the CFO and will be working to support their member hospitals with enhanced services while building a stronger corporate support structure.

I start with CHC at the end of July and am very excited to get back to the provider side of the business with a continued focus on information technology and strong results. I will however miss my co-workers at Argyle and my decision to leave was a very difficult one.

If you want to know more about CHC, you can visit their website at www.communityhospitalcorp.com or as always, shoot me an email at doerrstop@mac.com and I’ll fill you in.

New Blogging Tool Test

I’m testing out a new blogging tool that
may assist the kids in blogging more easily. Hopefully this will
work the way I expect and I won’t have to be the blogging
bottleneck.

Trip to Mexico

Madeline and I recently went to Mexico with NCYTE.  We had a great time and I kept up a google map which shows where we visited.  Check it out.   Simply click on the blue POIs below to see what we did at each spot.  I still have a couple spots to add from the last day so check back and see what’s been added.  If you want to see a larger map, there is a small link under the map.
